Seamless Transition: Setting Up Windows 11 Pro on Azure Virtual Machines

Seamless Transition: Setting Up Windows 11 Pro on Azure Virtual Machines

Introduction:

Microsoft Azure is a key platform for companies and individuals looking for reliable solutions in the age of cloud computing. With the help of this tutorial, you will be able to effortlessly install Windows 11 Pro on Azure Virtual Machines and take use of all the newest features and functionalities of the upcoming operating system in a cloud setting. You might use https://portal.azure.com to do this. Following registration, a successful sign-in on the Azure portal will resemble the image below:

To construct a virtual machine, follow the instructions below after successfully logging in.

Under Azure Services, look for the Plus sign on the upper left corner and click.

Selecting the + symbol will take you to a page with various potential creation resources. We select Create from the virtual machine resource that appears, as we want to create a virtual machine.

Selecting "create" from the virtual machine's menu will direct you to a new page where you may establish a resource group using the Azure subscription you have specified. Establishing a resource group for the virtual machine's location is advised. Prior to building the virtual machine, you could create the resource group, or you could do it while the virtual machine is being built. The second choice is chosen.

To establish a new resource group, click "Create new" beneath the resource group box. A pop-up window will then appear, allowing you to name the group. I named the new resource group "WinGRP".

Navigate down the page to assign a name to the virtual machine you want to build. For this demonstration, I choose "WinGRP-VM" as the virtual machine name.

Choose the Azure region where you want the virtual machine to be. It is recommended that you carefully select the area that is closest to your location in order to prevent paying too much. I selected UK South (Europe).

Choose your Availability options according to what you require. Since this is purely for educational purposes, the least availability option—"no infrastructure redundancy required"—was chosen.

Depending on your particular situation or company requirement, choose the security type. I choose the "standard" option, which offers the least security, for learning.

I also selected the Windows 11 Pro operating system for the Virtual Machine.

Choose the right memory based on your needs, circumstances, and particular requirements.

Navigate to the Administration credentials section, where you will find your username and password. I choose "Windowuser" as user name as my credential.

Scroll down and confirm that RDP (3389) is the inbound port. "Remote Desktop Protocol" is what RDP stands for. It is a requirement to host the Windows operating system on the cloud virtual machine (VM). It is a gateway that links your local computer to the virtual machine on the cloud.

To view the "Disk" page, scroll down, check the licensing box, and then click "next".

Depending on particular needs and circumstances, you can change the settings on this page or leave it as is. To view the "networking" page, click Next.

The networking page could leave at default. Click on "next" to access the management page.

Leave the management page settings as default. Click "Next" to proceed to the "Monitoring" page.

Keep the settings on the "Monitoring" page as default. Click "Next" to proceed to the Advanced Settings page.

Leave the settings on the Advanced page as default. Click "Next" to Tags the resources accordingly. Proceed by clicking "Next" to move forward.

Add a suitable name and value to tag the Virtual Machine. Click "Next" to review and create your VM.

Keep an eye out for the "Validation Passed" message, confirming that the configuration is correct. Then, click on "Create" to initiate the creation process.

Monitor for the message "Your deployment is complete." Click on "Go to resource" to access your newly created Virtual Machine.

At this stage, connect to your Virtual Machine by clicking on "Connect."

From your downloaded VM/RDP file, click on "connect" on the pop up box.

Enter the Administrator's credentials i.e password.

Click on "Yes" on the Remote Desktop Connector pop-up.

A virtual machine has been successfully hosted on Microsoft Azure.
